Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Prepare competitive fixed price quotations (both labor and material), for maritime ship repair/refit and industrial repair/refit.
  2. Determine work procedures, crew size, machines/tooling, sub-contractors, material, and accessories required to accomplish work at a competitive price and acceptable margins.
  3. Coordinate with Walashek staff and trades as needed to gather information and process requirements for the accomplishment of work.
  4. Conduct ship-checks / site-checks as required to properly scope work.
  5. Obtain accurate bill of material (BOM) quotations in a timely manner.
  6. Maintain relationships with industry suppliers, vendors, and clients.
  7. Maintain and update the contract pipeline in coordination with Management.
  8. Build estimates and quotes using approved corporate policies.

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma and/or some college or technical training preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating and planning.

Shipyard Environment conditions may involve hazardous situations including:

  • Fall / Trip Hazards
  • Fire Hazards
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Loud environments exceeding 40dB
  • Climbing, crouching, and kneeling movements are required
  • Office Environment
  • Government and site office access is required to obtain drawings, tech manuals, and other technical and planning documentation required for estimating and bidding purposes.

Special Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals to machine parts and products according to specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High performance and a strong team player.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to operate and update Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project
